Most packs we work on will follow the steps below. To avoid any incorrect packs or polarity which can damage equipment or worse, we would like for you to familiarize yourself with our "Custom Pack" guidelines:

For more dangerous packs (D cells, F cells, lithium packs) a sample is the best way for us to make sure we have a correct build. Contact us for mailing instructions before sending in a pack for evaluation. Of course, we will return the pack to you whether you purchase the packs or not.

Along with the picture, we need to see the battery pack label showing Chemistry, Voltage, and Capacity. The EXACT size is critical as well. If the pack has more than 2 wires, we will need to see inside the pack to check for diodes, PTC devices, Thermistors, Thermal Devises, and any other components. In addition, we will need to clearly determine the polarity so we wire the pack correctly.

Sending in your battery pack is the BEST way for us to get you a correct replacement.

We sell over 600 different "Custom" pack batteries. Many of those require no sample or pictures for us to sell them to you. Only those that we don't recognize could be a problem which is why we'll ask for the following information.

If you have a pack you need reproduced, does it have a label on it indicating Chemistry, Voltage, and Capacity? If so, that's a great start.

Chemistry will either be NiCd (nickel-cadmium) and NiMH (nickel metal-hydride). Both of these chemistries are 1.2 Volts per cell so a 7.2 Volt pack will have 6 cells.

Capacity in mAh will determine run time. The larger the number the longer the battery will run between charges. Think of capacity as the size of the battery's gas tank. A cell with the same physical dimensions in NiMH will run longer than one in NiCd. That said, not all NiCd chargers work with NiMH batteries.

Next we need the configuration. What does it look like?

Cell identification: The height and diameter of the individual cell is key in order to identify the cell. Different cells can be AA, AAA, C, D, F, AF, 4/5AF, 5/4AF, 4/3AF ,1/3AA, 1/2AA and more.

Connection: Lastly, how does it connect to the application? Wire leads, connector, etc. There are hundreds of different types of connectors and configurations.

If you don't have an engineer's drawing, we would prefer to have a pack in hand to evaluate.

EMERGENCY LIGHT REPLACEMENT BATTERIES: Many Emergency Light Manufacturers have changed their packs but they are using the same part numbers as the old pack. This makes cross referencing batteries with just the part numbers impossible.
