How to Find Your Laptop's Brand and Model
For starters, your owner's manual should have the brand and model number on the front cover. If you don't have your owner's manual then almost every laptop has a manufacturer's label on the bottom of the computer. This label should have the brand and model number on it.

Most laptop batteries from major manufacturers use standardized part numbers. Here are sample part numbers from the major brands:
COMPAQ: 123456-001, 123456-B21
HEWLETT PACKARD: F1234A
SONY: PCGA-BP12, VGP-BP1
DELL: 312-1234, 1234P
IBM: 02K1234, 08K1234
TOSHIBA: PA1234U-1BRS
APPLE: M1234
